I know that you are concerned about your finances during these uncertain times, but I want you to know that your money is safe at Big Dutch Fleet Credit Union. Since 1953, your credit union has paid into the NCUSIF, which is a National Credit Union Administration, a government backed insurance fund. This fund is stronger than the current FDIC fund. All deposits are insured up to $250,000 per owner and IRA accounts have a separate insurance coverage up to $250,000. No insured credit union member has ever lost money.

Today, your credit union has over $15 Million in assets. Not one dime has been invested in Wall Street or any stock. Each and every investment we make is 100% insured either FDIC or NCUA depending on where the money is invested. Our investment strategy is simple and straight forward. We never put your money at risk, never. Your Board of Directors and Management is dedicated to providing a safe and secure place for you to have all of your financial services.

You hear on the news that money is tight, that banks are not loaning money, that you won’t be able to use your credit card. Well, that simply is not true at Big Dutch Fleet Credit Union. We are making loans, car loans, home equity loans, credit cards, and whatever our members need. We operate today, just as we have in the past, without dependence on outside influences.

Credit Unions are regulated differently than banks and investment houses. We are more tightly regulated and the oversight of credit unions is regulated by two separate entities. First, the State of Michigan, Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation conducts annual examinations to ensure that credit unions are following policy, regulations and not acting in an unsafe manner. Secondly, the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) which manages our NCUSIF (insurance fund) reviews the reports on all state chartered credit unions and can, if warranted, perform their own examinations. We are fortunate that we are always found to be a safe and sound financial institution.

So, rest assured, we are providing you with all of the protection we have available and know that your credit union is about You, the member, and more that 3300 other people that are members too. Our credit union is a financial cooperative where members save so that others may borrow and vice versa. We aren’t here to make enormous profits; we are here to serve our members.
